ABOUT ME
Luka Liegeois is an accomplished artist whose creative journey began at an early age, nurtured by his parents' passion for the arts. Growing up in a household brimming with artistic inspiration, Luka delved into various mediums, including drawing, woodworking, and toy creation. The collaborative energy of his five siblings continues to play a vital role in Luka's creative process and life in general.
Specializing in photography, videoproduction, performance art, and visual arts (mixed media), Luka showcases a fusion of sleek aesthetics and profound conceptual depth. His work explores themes of social justice, self-awareness, and the boundless possibilities of our shared humanity.
Luka's artistic approach extends beyond creating visually appealing pieces; he delves into the interconnectedness between the artwork, the artist, and society. In fact, his Bachelor's dissertation led him to develop a framework for creating impactful and successful art and how art is being perceived within the context of current societal trends and interests.
With a background in Digital Media Global and an abroad ERASMUS semester in Berlin, Luka's artistic journey has been enriched by formal education and exposure to diverse creative practices. His talent has garnered recognition, including second prize for his Bachelor exhibition and first prize in architecture at the Edinburgh University's photography society. Luka has also exhibited his work at prestigious venues such as the Arthouse in Luxembourg.
Luka's artistic process is deeply rooted in his desire to make the world a better place. His creations serve as vehicles for self-expression, exploration, and positive impact. Guided by the principles of design thinking and a philosophy of trusting his intutition, Luka approaches each project with a spontaneous yet intentional mindset. His work resonates with viewers on a personal and societal level, as he aims to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and inspire positive change.
Drawing inspiration from diverse sources, Luka admires visionaries like Yves Klein, Christopher Nolan, and influential philosophers. Psychology, sociology, and various other fields fuel his creative fire, guiding Luka's quest to leave a lasting impression on humanity.
Outside of his art practice, Luka finds joy in sports, particularly basketball, and indulges in philosophical musings, experimentation, and continuous self-improvement. His entrepreneurial spirit drives him to explore his place in society and seek ways to positively impact the world.
Luka's artistic journey has not been without its challenges. He has confronted mental health struggles, including depression and moments of self-doubt. However, Luka's resilience, unwavering determination, and refusal to conform to societal norms have propelled him forward.
He embraces his own body as a canvas for personal experimentation and self-discovery, harnessing the power of art as a language of expression and a tool for self-realization.
